Tuesday, September 11, 2007: Harrah's Entertainment Inc. donates $30 million to UNLV

Harrah's Entertainment Inc. donates $30 million to UNLV LAS VEGAS (AP) - Casino giant Harrah's Entertainment Inc. said Monday its foundation will donate $30 million to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the largest corporate gift in the school's history.

Some $25 million will pay for half of the cost of an academic building that will anchor the proposed INNovation Village facility, while $5 million will be dedicated to research, recruitment, training and education.

The village is planned to be built on 6.8 acres of land and will have a fully operational hotel, restaurants, and a convention center. It is being planned to serve 4,000 students and 100 faculty members.

The university has not set a construction date for the village because it has not raised enough money to build it yet.
