Monday, July 30, 2007: Everyone stands to "GAIN" as Charity Program gives Alex Tagliani a NASCAR ride at two Canadian events
river's Earnings to be Donated to Victory Lap Charity Program and
Children's Hospitals
MONTREAL, July 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Alex Tagliani's desire to race in a
stock car in front of a home crowd has been fulfilled. The Lachenaie,
Quebec-born driver and Champ Car veteran will partner with Jacombs racing and
GAIN, a popular laundry detergent brand, to compete in NASCAR Canadian Tire
Series races on Montreal's Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on August 4 and at the
Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, August 17-19.
In joining the Jacombs Racing team for the two races, Tagliani, who grew
up only a few kilometres from Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, will be partnering
once more with fellow Victory Lap Charity Program ambassador Andrew Ranger,
who has led the points' standings for much of the season.
"I consider myself lucky to be a part of the Victory Lap Charity
Program," said Tagliani, whose appearances in his home province have mainly
come in the open-wheel Champ Car series. "With the help of Tide, Wal-Mart, our
other partners and now Gain, I am able to help raise money for children's
hospitals while participating in as many races as possible - including my
favourite stops in Montreal and Trois-Rivières."
Racing fans planning to attend the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières can take
advantage of a unique package being offered exclusively through Wal-Mart
stores in Quebec. Fans can get closer to the action with the purchase of a
three-day package which includes seats in the newly named Wal-Mart
#27 grandstand (formerly the popular Grande-Allée) for only $77.
For each package that is sold, Wal-Mart will make a $20 donation to Children's
Miracle Network, which will forward it to its Quebec affiliate, Opération
Enfant Soleil.
Any "gains" that Tagliani can make on the track during the two races will
also be beneficial to these charitable organizations, since Tagliani will be
donating any race winnings to Children's Miracle Network.
The contribution will be added to the funds currently being raised across
Canada in the Victory Lap Charity Program. The program, which runs until
August 30, has surpassed the $225,000 fund-raising mark on the way to
attaining its $350,000 donation objective for 2007.
Tagliani will be getting behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo,
innovatively designed in black and green colours, with GAIN emblazoned in
orange on the side panels. While Tagliani's presence at the Grand Prix de
Trois-Rivières had already been confirmed, his appearance in Montreal was
uncertain, until GAIN stepped forward allowing Alex to continue his
fundraising efforts alongside Andrew Ranger, Wal-Mart and other Victory Lap
Charity Program partners.
The partnership deal with Tagliani coincides with a GAIN price roll-back
at Wal-Mart stores over the next two months.
GAIN is a popular brand of scented laundry detergents and softeners that
has been available in Quebec since 2000. Quebec consumers, who have a greater
affinity toward scented detergents than their neighbours in other provinces,
purchased more than 1 million units of GAIN in 2006.
