Sunday, July 29, 2007: The Salvation Army is thrilled to partner with Hilary Duff in nationwide food drive
TORONTO, July 28 /CNW/ - The Salvation Army is thrilled to partner with
Hilary Duff as she kicks off her Dignity Tour in Winnipeg, MB on July 28,
2007, the first of 12 shows she will play across Canada. Once again, Hilary is
asking her fans to bring canned goods to her concert in support of The
Salvation Army and Canadian Harvest. On her past two Canadian tours, Hilary
has raised more than 125,000 pounds of food.
"Working with Canadian Harvest is a way for me to give something back to
the community," said Hilary Duff. "The past two times I toured Canada, my fans
did an amazing job of providing canned goods and I'm certain this time my fans
can do even better!"
At each Canadian stop on the Dignity Tour, donations will be collected at
the concert gates by The Salvation Army. All of the food will be distributed
through The Salvation Army in the communities from which it was collected.
Fans are encouraged to bring as much as they can.
"Having enough food to feed your family is a huge concern for many in
Canada," says Graham Moore, Territorial Secretary for Public Relations and
Development. "We are extremely pleased to be working with Hilary Duff as she
encourages her fans to support the vulnerable and marginalized throughout the
country."
Hilary Duff is a multi-platinum chart-topping recording artist and
concert performer, fashion designer, actress, business woman and
philanthropist. She recently released her fourth studio album called Dignity
and can also be seen in the upcoming film War, Inc., with John Cusack.

exclusively at Zellers. Hilary will launch her Canadian tour on July 28, 2007
in Winnipeg and will play shows across Canada, ending in Sault St. Marie on
September 11, 2007.
Canadian Harvest and its American counterpart, USA Harvest, began in 1989
as Kentucky Harvest, the brainchild of Stan Curtis. The goal of the
organization is to move food from people who have extra to people who have too
little. Since 1989, the "food-raisers' have collected 11.6 billion pounds of
food for missions, soup kitchens and food banks across North America.
The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began
its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become the largest
non-governmental direct provider of social services in the country. The
Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people today and everyday
in 400 communities across Canada and 111 countries around the world. The
Salvation Army offers practical assistance for children and families, often
tending to the basic necessities of life, provides shelter for homeless people
and rehabilitation for people who have lost control of their lives to an
addiction.
When you give to The Salvation Army, you are investing in the future of
marginalized and overlooked people in your community.
